As regular visitors to ABBAMAIL.com will know, there has been an ongoing situation this year between ABBAMAIL and the moderators of the forum section of the official ABBA website. ABBAMAIL began a campaign to highlight the very inappropriate actions and appalling treatment of many fans using the forum section of abbasite.com. This campaign was in an effort to get Universal Music, the site owners, to remove several of the moderating team who had been giving the entire team a bad name. We also wrote to Universal Music and Görel Hanser in February, 2004 about this situation but received no response. Three of the better forum moderators resigned as their concerns about the problem moderators were not acknowledged or addressed by Universal Music. Today, ABBAMAIL HQ received the following letter from Universal Music in Sweden. We are delighted to receive this letter which acknowledges the problems and advises that the guidelines for the remaining site moderating team will be tightened. Universal Music also commit themselves not to allow abuse or discrimination on the site forums. ABBAMAIL Administration has accepted this letter in the spirit of good faith and removed all of the content related to this situation from the ABBAMAIL website. We will be responding to Universal's letter in due course and will display that response on our website. We do not intend to pursue our campaign or make further comments about the site moderators unless there are further problems with the way the forums are moderated or if there are further complaints from ABBA fans using the forums. It would be churlish (and pointless) to claim a "victory" in this situation - there are never any winners when unpleasant conflict situations like this develop. But we do feel that ABBAMAIL's campaign has at least resulted in some positive action being taken by Universal Music Sweden. We would like to thanks all the fans and website visitors who have supported our campaign throughout 2004. Let's now move forward and hope that this matter is over and done with.
